As a well-structured and stable Italian paper mill located in Ferrara, Cartiera di Ferrara has gained a long-standing experience in the field of board over the last 30 years and it is now the only private family-owned integrated paper mill producing both high quality board and cores. Born in 1985, this company boasts a long series of successful achievements: thanks to regular plant renovations, which have started in 2002 and have constantly been made throughout the years, Cartiera di Ferrara is now reaching over 25 countries around the globe and over 80% of the entire production is allocated to the export business. Furthermore, Cartiera di Ferrara has planned future significant investments leading to the improvement of products’ quality, increasing of production output and reduction of energy costs, in order to better satisfy customers needs and to be perfectly aligned with the market demand.
Another strength of Cartiera di Ferrara is its strategic location: based in Ferrara the company is easily connected to the ports of Ravenna and Venice and to Bologna and Venice international airports.
As for the production, the company manufactures 80.000 MT of core board per year. Thanks to new 2015 investments they will reach 110.000 MT in 2016. Core boards start from 190 gsm up to 600 gsm. Bulk goes from 1.1 to 1.57.
The high resistance of their board is proved by the fact that Ply Bond values can reach up to 1000 J/m².
Regarding cores, Cartiera di Ferrara manufactures products for all markets, producing smooth surface tubes as well, starting from 25 mm till 10 meter long, with inside diameter that goes from 70 mm till 600 mm and wall thickness up to 25 mm. The annual production of cores is around 25.000 MT. The core-division consists of 5 lines producing different kind of cores starting from big tubes for construction up to small tubes for adhesive tapes.
Cartiera di Ferrara is aware and proud of the quality of its own production since its paper machine has a quality automatic product and process control system on line of latest generation of DCS and QCS. The company has also its own quality control department which is made up of 4 highly skilled engineers.
The quality of its products is also certified by FSC certification, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 which guarantee to the customer the possibility to safely use Cartiera di Ferrara board for any kind of packaging.
In particular, Cartiera di Ferrara board is certified to be used safely for food packaging. It may stand in direct contact with dry, non-fatty foodstuffs and such kind of foodstuffs which are peeled, shelled or washed before consumption. The board can be also used as secondary packaging. Dry, non-fatty foodstuffs with large surfaces may be packed by using an appropriate intermediate packaging.
