The SMI Group is today one of the world’s largest producers of bottling plants and packaging machines for food & beverage, household cleaning, personal hygiene, chemical and pharmaceutical products, able to meet production requirements up to 36,800 bottles per hour.

New age of bottling
With the launch of the ERGON technology, SMI has pioneered the “new age of packaging” and the “new age of bottling”, being, once again, able to supply advanced solutions to the market and to provide efficient, flexible, eco-friendly, ergonomic, easy-to-monitor and easy-to-manage bottling lines and packaging machines, even more inspired by Industry 4.0 and Internet of Things (IoT) principles.

Solutions for the tertiary packaging
The tertiary packaging of beverage, food or chemical/pharmaceutical products needs even more versatile solutions in order to:
-improve the handling of containers and avoid damages
-reduce the changeover times in order to quickly adapt the production to the new palletizing patterns
-increase the performances saving space

SMI palletizing systems set a new standard in the industry of two-Cartesian-axis fixed-column robotic palletizers. The APS series results from an intense activity of research and innovation, which has allowed to produce technologically advanced systems capable of providing each user with the solutions which best fit their needs.
SMI palletizing systems enable to streamline the end-of-line operations of countless industrial sectors: beverage, food, chemical, pharmaceutical, detergent, glass, paper and many more.
SMI palletizers meet production needs until 140 packs/minute (according to the of the product handled and to the palletization pattern selected) and are available in many configurations, both in "stand-alone" version and in integrated version (combined with a SMI packer, thus forming a Packbloc system).

The SMI palletisers have different modules, which can be programmed in a personalised way, according to the logistic conditions of the end of line area and to the work required, either in existing lines or in new installations. The heart of the system is made up of a vertical axis module, a long fixed column, along which the horizontal work beam slides on recirculating ball guides.

The beam along which the head-holder beam slides, always on recirculating ball guides, can be combined with:

- product infeed module and preform layer system (variable according to model chosen)

- pallet module with maximum payload of 300 kg (max. 10 pallets with max. height 150 mm and max. payload of 30 kg/pallet), that includes the moving and storage of empty pallets (Pallet modules with a greater payload are available as optional accessories)

- module pad insertion (optional), consisting of a pad magazine and a pad inserting devoce with controlled axis

Customizedpalletizingpatterns
Possibility to integrate handling systems to turn and/or translate the loose packs arriving on the infeed belt and to set them on multiple rows according to the palletizing pattern

Simple and fast assembly and start-up operations
The modules are assembled, prewired and tested in factory in order to reduce the operations for the customer and minimize the maintenance costs and the energy consumptions.
