COMPETITIONS, EVENTS, TRAINING AND DEMOS ON THE ART OF DECORATION UNDER THE BANNER OF PROFESSIONALISM

cake designRimini, 20 november 2012 – At SIGEP (Rimini Fiera 19-23 January 2013), Cake Design has always highlighted the combination of aesthetics and substance, i.e. the beauty and the tastiness of artisan confectionery. It will do so once again this year in Hall D3, hosting pastry chefs and cake-designers who, by means of contests, events and professional training initiatives, will show how the art of decoration is born and develops.

Cake Design is an opportunity for networking and possible cooperation between the sector´s two key figures, the Chef and the Cake-designer, the latter a profession that is increasingly popular due to the increase in the emerging trend for personalizing desserts and cakes, a trend that is nourishing a new demand heralding opportunities of employment.

Every day, Cake Design´s Villaggio del Decoro (Decoration Village) will host training courses on techniques of the art of decoration art and in-depth coverage of specific topics. Particularly worthy of note, on Saturday 19th January, there will be a workshop dedicated to the new skills in cake-design that meet the tradition of the art of decoration in pastry making. Technical, professional and legislative aspects and new business opportunities will be covered.
Then there is Pro-Workshop, with its conferences and seminars with a high professional and proactive value, as well as an Info Desk targeting newcomers to the cake design business.

All these proposals will be opportunities for training, updating and information for new trade member (ladies above all) in this sector of the confectionery trade, who can thus be encouraged to transform what is a passion or a business idea into a real regular professional activity.

Also in the Decoration Village, the sector´s companies will have at their disposal space for presenting there products and innovations, an Exhibition on creative packaging and window-dressing will be hosted and Parades and Happy-hours will also be held.

The art of decoration will take shape in the competitions between professionals: from Saturday 19th to Wednesday 23rd January 2013, there will be the competition ´Bimbi in festa´ (Kiddies party), during which 20 finalists will compete for the Trophy of best cake designer of the year. In Rimini 10 finalists selected via a Web contest organized by Glamour Italian Cake and 10 pastry chef/decorators from all over Italy selected by Conpait will compete.
At this edition, the audience, as well as admiring the delicacies made, will also be able to actually watch them being realized. The results will also be tasted and a panel of judges will assess them. All this to never separate the form of the content – the beauty from the tastiness †the professionalism of the pastry chef from that of the cake-designer.

On Saturday 19th January, it will be the turn of Special SIGEP Giovanni, Luciano Pinnate Memorial. The initiative will feature youngsters from Training Schools of various Italian Regions presenting the SigepGiovani project, and taking their places alongside the pros working at Cake-design.

From Sunday 20th to Tuesday 22nd January, from 2.00 to 5.30 pm, there will also be The Italian Pastry Art Gallery. 580 Medals in International and Word Contests. Great masters will transform simple ingredients such as sugar, chocolate, ice, butter and vegetables into spectacular works of art that visitors will be able to admire.

Ice Bar on the other hand is an initiative conceived to seal new proposals from cake design´s professional newcomers and experts. Master pastry chefs and decorators will be in the spotlight at the decoration forum dedicated to cake design from Sunday to Tuesday at 6.00 pm. Happy hours will be held, with drinks combined with the day´s original creations.

The confectionery world meets the cinema with the event ´Action! – pastry art interprets the cinema´, scheduled for Sunday, 20th January 2013.

Cake Design is organized by Rimini Fiera in collaboration with Pasticceria Internazionale and Accademia Con.ve.it Pasticceria and the patronage of Conpait, the Confederation that coordinates the event with Rimini Fiera.
