Sustainability, health consciousness and volatile raw material markets are continually presenting the sweets and snacks industry with new challenges – while at the same time driving the development of innovative solutions. Koelnmesse is making a clear statement regarding this transformation with ISM Ingredients, which is being co-staged with ISM and ProSweets Cologne from 1 to 4 February 2026 in Cologne: For the first time, an autonomous trade fair format will be totally dedicated to ingredients and is thus creating a new, focused platform within the leading global industry events.
In the scope of ISM Ingredients, a global meeting point for manufacturers, developers and visionaries, who present functional, plant-based and climate-friendly raw materials as well as innovative semi-finished products, will evolve. Companies like Brenntag, Döhler or GNT will show how a totally new world of taste enjoyment arises with less sugar, new textures and natural colours.

Especially promising: Plant-based colour concentrates, for example extracted from purple sweet potatoes, open up creative, product development opportunities. A concrete example of this innovative strength is the sustainable chocolate alternative made from fermented broad beans that Döhler and the start-up, Nukoko, will be presenting. With up to 90% less carbon emissions, a reduced amount of sugar and high protein content, it sets new benchmarks for eco-friendly enjoyment.
Diversified event programme
The trade fair experience will be enhanced by a diversified event programme: Innovative start-ups will present their latest ideas at the “Ingredients – Functional and Climate-Conscious” Special Show in Hall 10.1. The interactive Sweet Week Talks & Tasting comprising of live podcasts, workshops, tastings and best practices invites guests to engage in an intense exchange on industry-relevant topics.

On the Expert Stage, famous market researchers from Innova Market Insights and Euromonitor International will give exclusive insights into the current consumer and product trends.
The popular Sweets Global Network Guided Tours will keep the visitors updated on the latest technical highlights in ingredients, mixers, fillers and sustainable packaging. The main focus lies on AI solutions that simplify production processes and increase energy efficiency – a decisive competitive edge.
ProSweets Cologne profits from the momentum of this strong trade fair format, which seamlessly combines networking and innovation. With over 70% of the exhibition space already booked within the early bird phase, the industry is impressively demonstrating its confidence in ISM Ingredients 2026 – a platform for everyone, who connects enjoyment with responsibility and who wants to shape the sweets world of tomorrow.
