Rimini, 4th December 2013 – From Saturday 18th to Wednesday 22nd 2014 the ´great home of artisan confectionery´ opens its doors again. These are in fact the dates of the 35th edition of SIGEP, the International Exhibition of artisan Gelato, Confectionery and Bakery production, the world-leading expo that Rimini Fiera holds along with a busy calendar of spectacular events.

A record-breaking edition is expected, following the last five editions, at which the number of trade visitors rose from 92,732 in 2009 to 144,803 in January 2013. An extremely rapid growth, also seen in the foreign attendance figures: there were 16,109 international visitors in 2009, and 26,247 at the last edition.

Therefore, over 150,000 trade members from 140 Nations and five continents are expected at the next SIGEP, and they will be key players at the only place in the world where trade members can really understand the gelato, artisan confectionery, bakery and coffee markets, thanks to the complete exhibition of all the ingredients, products, technologies, furniture, fittings and services, as well as competitions international highlighting worldwide excellence. Over a thousand companies will completely occupy the sixteen halls at the expo.

The 35th SIGEP arrives following an extraordinary foreign promotional campaign, for which Rimini Fiera tripled its investment. This was the main direction taken to support companies´ business development, with a ´road show´ on which the sales team worked worldwide

The great events at SIGEP 2014
For 2014, SIGEP decided to create a Times Square (Halls B3 and B5) of artisan confectionery. Like the famous New York square, the area will become an enormous crossroads under the banner of internationality and performances by the world´s great masters, a stage connected in live streaming with the whole world.
Among other events, the program includes the eagerly awaited Gelato World Cup with 12 countries taking part; the second edition of The Pastry Queen, the world pastry championship reserved for ladies, with 11 contestants from five continents; The Star of Chocolate, the contest dedicated to Chocolate; Italian barista championship (South Foyer); the Italian Junior and Senior Pastry Championships and Bread Art, with the excellence of Italian bakers´ art.

With the aim of integrating food service/catering in a strong related expo, in order to represent all the food world´s new trends, RHEX RISTORAZIONE (Rimini Horeca Expo) will be held simultaneously with SIGEP 2014. This project – which will give a great boost to business for public venues, distribution chains and large-scale distribution – has met with the appreciation and full approval of exhibitors and business sectors. In trade chain terms, it obtains the expo completeness and critical mass necessary to promote companies´ proposals with foreign buyers in the best possible manner.
