Alfa Laval launches new condition monitoring software with integrated analytics. Using artificial intelligence, the new Alfa Laval Analytics for online condition monitoring helps hygiene-challenged industries avoid unplanned downtime, extend the life of valuable assets and help achieve sustainability goals.

“This is an important step for industries with hygienic requirements. Our new Alfa Laval Analytics solution detects potential machine failures before they occur and helps diagnose the root of the problem. Working closely with our customers, we have developed an easy-to-use and reliable solution that provides peace of mind and keeps equipment performing at peak performance at all times,” says Torsten Pedersen, Head of Connectivity and Monitoring at Alfa Laval Fluid Handling.

Alfa Laval Analytics is a value-added feature that can be added to all new and existing Alfa Laval pump installations. The solution includes a one-year subscription, with online installation, training on the use of the control panel and ongoing support.

Always by your side 24/7

Alfa Laval Analytics collects and analyzes pump vibration data 24 hours a day. We have developed the AI-based solution with a view to offering peace of mind for operators and plant management. Analytics offers a clear and intuitive vision of the health status of the equipment through a simple control panel. Green if all is well, yellow if attention is needed, orange for a warning, and red for immediate action.

“Wherever they are and whatever the time, operators and plant managers have the status of the plant at hand. A glance at the app’s dashboard is enough to check the health status of the pumps and take action if necessary to avoid costly downtime,” says Torsten Pedersen.

He explains that Analytics not only detects failures, but also pinpoints probable causes of the problem, which may be related to, for example, misalignment of the pump installation, potential process improvements, or mechanical failure.

“The diagnostic capabilities of the Analytics tool make it extremely easy for operators and technicians to quickly locate the problem and fix it before damage is done. By running Analytics , we can even extend the equipment warranty by continuously monitoring the pumps and following inspection and repair recommendations,” says Torsten Pedersen.

We pave the way for predictive maintenance

With its ability to predict failures and identify parts that need repair or replacement, Analytics paves the way for implementing predictive maintenance strategies that help eliminate additional costs and prevent unplanned downtime.

At the same time, Analytics supports the sustainability agenda by enabling plants to do more with less. By keeping assets running smoothly at all times, Analytics improves energy efficiency and helps reduce carbon emissions.

Alfa Laval Analytics is a cybersecure solution. All data is transmitted via the mobile network and does not require a connection to the plant’s Internet.

Analytics is part of the Alfa Laval Connected Services program. New services are added continuously to harness the potential of Industry 4.0 technologies.
